“Everyone was very open and extremely helpful”

Located on the water’s edge at Ruakaka, this stunning home sits majestically upon 1.5 acres of lush gardens.

Owner, David Baylis, initially approached a friend, Allan Shanahan, of Shanahan Architects in Ponsonby with ideas for his new home. These were quickly turned into the perfect plan! All that remained was to find a builder, and several builders were approached. Fortunately, friends of David knew Barry Trass from Homeworld Design & Build in Whangarei. After personally meeting with the Homeworld team, David felt confident that they were the ones to build his dream home.

“Everyone at Homeworld has been very open, warm and extremely helpful. I felt right at home from the start and very confident with the whole team. Nothing was too much trouble for them and I could tell they had a lot of combined building knowledge. I also felt extremely lucky to have Mel Herman as my builder. He is such a genuinely nice guy and an expert tradesman.”

Building homes is a team effort with a number of local Whangarei firms helping with the project. David found all the trades people were extremely helpful and genuinely nice people. All suppliers associated with Homeworld such as Tim Frazerhurst Curtains and Harvey Norman were equally as helpful and gave exceptional service.

One thing that David feels equally passionate about is the Sola Hart, Solar Heating System he had installed. “I would encourage anyone looking at building to install one. It’s an absolute must! The energy cost savings are remarkable.”

“Apart from a temporary problem with a window supplier, I can honestly say I had no problems at all. In fact, I have already recommended a number of my friends to build with Homeworld…”
